Estonia at the Venice Biennale

07.06.2009 - 22.11.2009

At the 53rd International Venice Biennale Estonia will be represented by Estonian artist Kristina Norman's project “After-War”. The curator of the Estonian exposition is Marco Laimre.
The creator of the exposition in the Estonia pavilion, Krsitina Norman, deals with political, provocative, documentary and exploratory art. Norman's work is extremely context-centred-it is born of its relationship with its surroundings. “After-War” is an integral installation-based environment of videos, photos and objects that opens itself up as five different spaces. The work is based on an incident whose surrounding events are considered some of the most traumatic as well as most-discussed topics for Estonian society following re-independence.

The Venice Biennale is the oldest and largest international art forum. Estonia has been represented at the Biennale since 1997.
